Urgent Call for Support: Help Union Member's Mother Fighting for Life in the Philippines
Apr 05, 2023
Dear Members of Local 14,

Alaska SEA Line Tech, Marc Echalas’s mother, Carol, has unexpectedly fallen ill while traveling in the Philippines. She has been diagnosed with Viral Encephalitis and presumed Meningitis, which has led to her being intubated and fighting for her life on a ventilator in the ICU.

Carol is a mother of three and a grandmother to two young boys. Her unexpected illness has caused financial distress for her family, who are already struggling to meet the upfront medical costs of her treatment in the Philippines.

We understand that unexpected circumstances can happen to any of us at any time, and it is our responsibility as a union to come together and help each other out. We are asking our members to consider donating to help Carol and her family cover the upfront medical costs and other expenses associated with her illness.

There is a GoFundMe campaign set up for Carol's medical expenses. We encourage you to visit the page and donate, no matter how small. Every little bit counts, and your support can make a big difference in the lives of our fellow member's family.

The link to the GoFundMe can be found here.

We also ask that you share this message with others who may be able to offer support. Even small donations can make a significant difference, and we appreciate any help that you can offer.

We know that with your support, we can make a difference in Marc’s family life and provide comfort and assistance to the family during this difficult time.

Thank you for your consideration and support.

In Solidarity,

AMFA Local 14 Leadership Team
